‘3 Ways to Boost Your Workout’

As time passes, its easy for your workouts to get a bit boring. You might find yourself in a bit of a rut which can cause a plateau in results and a lack of motivation. That is why we’ve put together this list of three really simple ways to mix it up a little, which will help with your wavering motivation and keep you on the path to success!

  1. Track Your Workouts

Tracking your workouts using metrics such as your heart rate, distance, time, and weight lifted can be a really great way to help you progress over time. There are plenty of apps out there that can help you do just that, such as Strava, which Nicky uses to track her swimming, cycling and running. Since using Strava, Nicky finds that she’s able to push herself a little bit harder so that she can beat her previous times!

Using your heart rate to track your workouts can also be a great way of measuring whether you’re exercising at the right intensity – remember, recovery workouts are just as important as your build workouts.

  1. Buy New Workout Clothes

Making sure that you’re in the right kit, be that a supportive sports bra or a good pair of running shoes can really impact on your workout. Ill fitting clothes can cause chafing and discomfort when exercising, which no one wants. Nicky has a yearly gait analysis to purchase the right type of running shoes to suit her running style (most running shops will offer these free of charge if you’re buying shoes from them) which means she’s more likely to smash her training runs and races.

  1. Join a Class or See a Personal Trainer

There’s no shame in admitting that you don’t know what you’re doing, or that your training has gone a bit stale and have someone else put you through your paces. A Personal Trainer will be able to assess your current fitness and write up a training plan according to your individual goals*. Working in a class environment or with a Personal Trainer can help you to push yourself out of your comfort zone, helping you to achieve those fitness goals just that little bit faster.

*Shameless plug time – If you have a specific health or fitness goal in mind and you’d like our help, get in touch, we’d love to hear from you. Helping people achieve their goals really is a passion of ours 😊
